Sounds like you were good to go with how you were fishing them. I don't know of any minner fishin secrets. Just hook one on and fling it out. They do seem to attract more smaller fish.

I was fishing a local lake this evening in Ward. I caught one nice 11+ crappie casting a jig and float when the wind was blowing. They quit hitting the jig when the wind died so I decided to get a couple dozen crappie minnows. I set up a slip float rig with a no. 4 red Tru Turn hook on the business end. I immediately started getting bit but I missed every one. I went through about a dozen minnows but no hook ups. They were sinking the float out of sight and I gave them a second or two to make sure they had it but still no results. I was hooking the minnows in the back under their dorsal fin. I am new to fishing minnows. Can anyone give me a little advice?
