    Default Lake Norman 2-17

Got in very early in the morning from work yesterday and after a few hours of sleep, met up with a friend who i have not hung out with in over 6 years. he has never caught a striper. I guaranteed him one, so the pressure was on.

pulled into first spot about 1030am and put the first rod out on the downrigger. get ready to set the next, and the first rod pops and drag starts to pull.....no way it was that easy? about a 7 lb striper in the boat in short order. should have went home then and there!!

slow going from thereon out. called it a day at 2 with a final tally of 2 striper, 3 hybrids, 7 fat spots, and a pair of perch. one perch was the biggest i have ever seen that weighed 2.4lbs on my digital scale. had to research the state record for a moment, but realized it was not close enough!

for those C/R guys, we just kept 1 striper, 1 hybrid and thinned the herd of the spots keeping all of them. prettyiest day on the water so far this year. This work thing is getting in the way of fishing!!

Full day 1/2 day or evening Striper/Crappie fishing trips available at a very affordable price for
Lake Norman, Badin, Wateree, High Rock.

Nice catch Pete. If all the perch were that size I would not mind them messing up my crappie fishing.

I was there, too. It was a slow day for me as well. I only caught 6 crappie by noon. The spots were stretching my line enough to keep it interesting. Don't really know how many of them were caught. Several broke my 4# line and stole my jigs. I thought I saw you down in the same area we talked about the other day.

That would have been me making a few people mad in the crowd!

Thanks for the report. Keep thinning out the perch. I have started keeping all perch and throwing them back in the water after they die.
