Default Help with transferring waypoints on Navionics + and Humminbird 859 di.

I thought I was somewhat tech savy, but I was quickly put in my place when trying to transfer some brush pile way-points from my computer over to my card/unit. I've been through several tutorials on youtube and I either don't have the right software or I'm just missing steps.

It seems like the easiest way would just be to bring the unit inside next to my computer and manually mark a waypoint and edit the coordinates. Has anybody tried this? Or does anybody know of an easier way? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

    Try this converter.
GPS coordinates, points of interest, POI, waypoints, routes, tracks, maps, locations

Or look at "Easy GPS" it's a free download. I know it works for navionics, lowrance, magellan, but don't know if it works for birds.

I don't know if you can change the gps format in your bird or not.

Go to the main forum and look under electronics/photography theres a lot of bird stuff there.

Download HumminbirdPC to your computer, then enter your waypoints and upload to you SD Card. From there, plug your card into your bird and load. HumminbirdPC will convert most other brands formats to .hwr. Only ones I can't convert in HBPC is Lowrance .usr version 3 & 4.

HumminbirdPC makes it very easy to edit, manage, and back up your waypoints.

Glad you jumped in here Pop N Cork, I am more Lowrance oriented so your post is more applicable.

I think it may be Lowrance Version 4 & 5 that can't be converted.......If you save the from a Gen 2 or 3, it gives you the option to save as .gpx or earlier version. Best to save as .gpx and use HumminPC to convert to .hwr

Do this .... and don't use the Navionics + card to do the transfer. The waypoints are loaded to the unit......The unit does not use them from the card and you would risk messing up the Navionics card.

GPS Babel is what I use. Probably very similar to easy gps. Works well with Google Earth. Very easy which is good cuz that's all i can handle.

Well, after more research I found my problem. You cannot download humminbird PC to any type of mac computer (my two personal computers are a mac book air and a Mac desktop). I do have a windows lap top for work, but because of the security feature my company puts on the computer it will not let me download the application.

If anyone has been successful with humminbird PC on a mac let me know!

You would need Parallels for a Windows environment in a Mac ...

Run Windows on Mac with Parallels Desktop 11 for Mac
