Fellas I live in Oklahoma and have traveled to Arkansas to crappie fish for over 20 years. I have family there we fish with and like a change of scenery. I can probably say for 95 % of folks that travel out of state, there goal is Not to fill their freezers but to fish somewhere different and have a chance to catch a true 3 lb. crappie. Don't think you realize how special you have it to have that chance every time you go out on the water. When we travel out of state we may keep enough of the legal size to have a fish fry one evening but it wouldn't be with 3 pounders and not to fill the freezer. And I will say this post probably isn't hurting as bad as the crappie shows on TV that highlight your lakes every weekend. You have a special thing down there.

I agree TimY we have a very special place for crappie fisherman and the sad thing is all of these guys complain about out of state guys but to be honest its the local guys that hurt our lakes. The local guys that fill up a cooler take it home and come back with another cooler two or three times a day. The local guys that ride 4 wheelers and burn the stake beds everyone put out for crappie. I have met a few out of state guys that were very rude but for the most part everyone I see and meet are very nice and polite just looking to catch some fish.

If the water is too low at Choctaw, which it is not right now, then Youngs won't do him much good, might be able to use 1/4 mile or so of the river.

I am planning on hitting the lake saturday but the wind is out of the south saturday so choctaw is probly out of the equation haha It will be my first trip back since deer season started so hopefully I can find a few

I don't ever mind helping someone from out of state. You come come here and support our local fisheries and businesses with your money. You can't wipe out even my best honey holes in a few days before you head home. The only request I ask is that you use locally owned stores and restaurants as much as possible. That being said, I don't think Barnett gets the amount of out of state guests as the COE lakes. I'll gladly help locals out too, granted they are members who contribute to the forums. Heck, as someone who primarily fishes alone, I enjoy having people tag along along with me or me with them. The people I can't stand are the ghosts. The ones who never sign up, they scan the forums for any info with out ever offering any info of there own. They would gladly fish your spots but never tell anything about their own if they even spend the time to find their own holes.

So I have my cabin booked at hambones and from online review it appears that B's Grocery is the closest place for bait, gas and snacks and Drydocks is a good place to eat. Am I on the right track. Any other suggestion would be appreciated. Also from looking a google earth and navionc if the water level is up around 215 or so it appears the whole area around greysport would be a good place to start looking.

You can't really rely on google earth for water levels since you don't when the image was shot. From my experience in using it, seems the water level is at conservation pool. I can look at the image and tell about what level the lake is by zooming in on boat ramps, but I live down here. Wishing you Luck down here!
