    I didn't see anything in the official rules that it has to be a crappie to take the big fish prize My father in law Andy has been known to catch the most random fish species, usually big and ugly. He's liable to show up to the dock with a monster catfish or gar or something we don't even know about. a few weeks ago two of us limited out on speckled trout and we caught his limit, he however caught a 20+ lb jack cravelle, the only non trout species caught.
