went behind the spillway thurs and fri of last week. i always go down the river to get out of the crowd. ended up with 80 in two days. could have been a whole lot better but i took a kid with me who had never seen a 10ft jig pole in his life. he stayed hung in the trees above his head more than he did under the water. lot of fun though. mid-south glow jig pink body chartreuse tail 12' deep did all the damage. figure they'll open the gates back up after this storm is over today. be a few days before they heat up again.

the one day i leave my phone in the truck is the day i needed it most. i could've taken some picks worthy of America's funniest home videos. i laughed till my ribs hurt.
EXCELLENT JOB!!!!
Fun time down there if you can find them away from the crowds. You fine around that big curve where the water plant pressure relief is? Scared the crap out of me the first time that thing shot water up several feet out of the river lol

Great job! It's been a while since I have been down below the spillway but man when it is right, it is right!

Nice work taking a youth. A memory he'll never forget. Who cares how Many you caught. Teaching a kid to fish is Priceless.

You are a fine man for taking that kid. You possibly made a difference in his life. I deal with kids every day that have only one parent and know nothing about hunting or fishing. They know about cell phone and internet junk, much of which is harmful. The love of God's outdoors is a wonderful pastime and far better than drugs ,alcohol and the sedentary lifestyles many of these kids live. We should all encourage children to be involved in sports and outdoor activities. I thank the Lord for my dad, coaches and other men who took the time to take me hunting and fishing!
thanks for the kind words guys. i was never blessed with kids myself so i take kids all the time. i never get tired of watching them only thing i get concerned about is sometimes a hot bite on their first trip can make follow up trips disappointing but they gotta learn that lesson too it aint about catching fish anyway. DonDon i wasn't down quite that far but i know what your talking about. it got me the first time i saw it too. thought a whale was breaching. reminds of one night i was hog hunting and the dogs bayed in a corn field it was pitch black and as soon as i crossed the fence one of those cannons farmers put in fields to run deer off exploded 5 feet away from me. it was a good thing i had not eaten much that day.
