    Default Shelbyville spring crappie spawn

About what months say mid April to 2nd week of may? When is the normal/usual time of the crappie spawn on Lake Shelbyville? Thanks I am trying to set up a trip to go down there.

I will let the experts give the best answer but I would wait until May 1 to come. You will be in the middle of pre spawn to spawn for most of the crappie.

Clfarms gave good advice. Usually 3rd week of April things are starting somewhere on the lake. First week of May is a real good bet for good things to happen and you can catch spawning fish usually through May somewhere on the lake

But then again it depends on the water temp. Lot of us guys on here will keep it posted. But then again, when there is not a lot of talking on here is because people are out there catching fish.
Lets go soak a line. Pat

Best to check first with Army Corps or Steve Welch, a local guide. Talked to him on Saturday (13Feb) and he said the lake is still 9 ft above winter pool.

You can always go to my website and get a report on what the lake is doing and if the fishing is good, fair, slow or ugly.
