Thanks ketchn... I'd love to see you and some others who say they draw some... to post some of their / your work. It is enjoyable to draw and paint no doubt... and lots of fun to share it with others.

Great question: I used to use what is known as "reference pictures" from which I simply tried to duplicate the drawing as close as possible... but it seems like I have better results or outcomes if I create a base posture or action posture for the fish and then use pictures as a reference (only) to add some of the natural details, coloration, shading and/or highlights. Plus, the drawing just seems more original, imaginative and creative to me that way... and more of my own rendition of what I (first) see and create in my own mind.
