They would make a great additive to animal feed. Problem is they run fish thru an asphalt roller to separate the meal and oil. If you've ever been near a Pogey plant you would understand why no county will permit one. It's a special kind of stink.

That article appears to show they are targeting Common Carp and not the Asian carp--Bigheads and Silvers. Hopefully something like that could be used on the Asians. Main issue I see is we got Asians in the waterways when somebody thought it would be a good idea to bring them over here to clean up scum in fish-farm ponds. What issues might we be starting by trying some new biological means of killing carp? If they could guarantee we wouldn't kill everything in the water, especially gamefish, then I would be all for it.

If it will kill all the carp, then by all means.......Let's ROLL!!!!

Yhe species needs to be eradicated before it completely adjusts to their new environments. Heard reports that they have hit crappie and bass baits, and also have had multiple people fim let them open and find smaller fry of bluegill, sunfish, and crappie in their stomachs.

We must end this before they completely devastate our freshwater fisheries.

I saw that the common carp were the carp being killed, but maybe to that virus, a carp is a carp. I agree about making sure the virus will be safe down the road. I know that a virus can mutate and wreak havoc when they become immune to antibiotics. Not sure about this virus, but it's the only thing that resembles a fix for the problem at hand. May not be the answer tho.

Can you imagine the smell of millions of dead Asian Carp on the river banks if it does work? Not a pretty thought.

Some cities get their water from these river/waterways. Like Flint,MI that's in the news the last few days, I wonder what the dead fish would add to the water. You can't treat/filter everything out of the water.

New use for Asian Carp!! Due to laziness, I have been throwing the carp over in the hog pen. They have learned how to scale them & have gained more weight than those on corn!
