That's what I call a safe trip to Henderson with one eye.....first time out since Dec. 9......right after then is when my right eye decided to go to sleep.....Didi would not let me go by myself so she came along with her camera....every time I would pass an 18 wheeler and get back in the right hand lane she would say "good job".....
As far as the fishing went......9:30 to 1:00 and not a bite....with shiners....lots of folk at the launch.....water way up but good color.....mainly fished 10 fow around the moss covered cypress trees(PPG...where you & I stopped for lunch)....didn't see many fish there but it sure was pretty.....saw lot of fish around the interstate but no one I talked to had any.....the wind was pretty tough....felt good to be back with pole in hand....water is falling.....only about 4" so far.......I'll be back there soon....

I would think that the water is way high and the fish are exploring all of the newest diners in the shallows, but who knows where those crazy fish go! I do think they get hungry and eat just about every day. Nice day to be on the water.

Mr. Bruce, it is good to know you were able to get out and scratch the itch. Thank you, Mrs. Didi, for going with my friend.

Good for you Bruce. I glad to hear that things are progressing and that you can get out and fish. Now you have to learn how to catch fish : ). I think I know the spot you're talking about. It's about the prettiest setting that I have ever eaten lunch. If they close off our waters I'll have to look else wheres. Henderson is 2 hours away, a good drive but doable a few times a year and the Lake Verett/Union Oil area is about an hour away so that's very doable now that it coming back some. I might have to hit JR's rivers for a little diversion. Maybe I can get him to teach me a little about the Bayou Pigeon/Sorrel area. Then we can always drive up and visit with Josh on Lake St. John buts that's 4 hours and would require a stay for 3 to 4 days. I'm getting up in age and the least amount of driving is the best. That's why I'll surely miss the Grove is they do lock up out. It's a 15 minute pull with the truck and 15 minute ride in the boat. You can't be that unless you live on the lake.
Continued prayers for your complete healing, looking forward to such a lunch again maybe this year.

"G" Gone but not forgotten!!
What was the water temps. I would think the fish would be on a drop off staging for spawn. Talked to a guy yesterday that said they were catching in north flats. He didn't say where at exactly but it should be soon

Glad you were able to get out and make a trip Bruce, wish the fish would have cooperated for you. PPG, I recognize that place and I agreee, that has definetely got to be one of the most beautiful places I have ever fished!

I did not think to even check the temp......I went north up Bigeaux and turned west at the big island (and the Osprey nest)....idled west across the north flats all the way back to a canal that went back south and came out in Bigeaux.....water about 10 ft deep in the flats.....saw one guy fishing around a duck blind in the flats.....looks like he was trying to get out of the wind.....I didn't fish the flats....couldn't find a spot out of the wind......thanks for the tip...
