Call the DNR aquatics education girl. They have a great program to get you started. Also once you get a date and event call Pure Fishing and tell them what you are doing. They donated 80 rod and reel zebco like combos for an event I helped with so the kids left with their own rods.

The program he's referring too from the DNR if the family fishing Clinic, I use to hold class in my area. But they give the you the equipment and teaching tools to use you do have to be certified through the DNR but that only take @ 4hr class it's fun and you don't have to take on all the cost.

If you are in the Lexington area, our Wildlife club teaches the DNR kids fishing clinics (several of us are instructors and we are running some classes now to get more members certified) and we also host fishing outings for kids from the foster homes in the area as well as the veterans at the Veterans Hospital. We do a lot of outreach stuff with kids and others in need. Love to have you join us. We meet once a month at our clubhouse and have a meal and usually a program related to the outdoors.
