Jordan Lake 1/ 21
Looking at the forecast, I decided that even though it was cold and a bit windy, my best chance to go fishin was Thursday. Arrived at Seaforth about noon and was happy to note I could launch a boat without getting my feet wet. The walkway to the docks was about 8" out of the water. There was only one other boat trailer in the lot, so I didn't have to worry about competition.
Went out to the 64 bridge and made a pass through to check my locator- there were no fish under the bridge and the 7 mph wind was funneling through there anyway. Unconvinced. I made a quick pass through one set of piers. You guys who know me know how much I like to fish concrete. Between the wind and the current, I figured out that I didn't want to stay there. Moved outside the bridge area away from the channel and picked up 2 decent fish in 30 FOW. Kept moving around and by 5 pm, I had 17 nice fish 11"-12.5". No big fish- they may still be up north.
I was lucky I had my Harris Lake color on, because that is all they would hit. For those of you that don't know, that is a blue and chartreuse tube jig aka Chief's Big Fish Color. I did try my Jordan Lake standard, brown and chartreuse, but they totally refused that. Tried several other colors. Of all the fish I caught- 17 keepers and a dozen or so short fish, only one came on brown and chartreuse. Everything else was blue and chartreuse. No other colors enticed even a small bump.
By 2 pm, the wind had died and the lake was basically fishable anywhere. But the fish stayed up out of the channel and away from the current. I suppose it will stay like that until the Corps of Engineers gets the lake back to normal pool. Almost all fish came from within 6" of the bottom in 25-26 FOW. This was a day when it pays to be able to see your jig on the screen. Depth control was critical, as is usually the case.
For info purposes, if the lake level is 222 or above, wear boots to be able to get to the docks with dry feet.
Had a great day on what turned out to be my private lake and hope this winter storm doesn't raise the lake too much. Can't wait to try it again.

Glad you decided to go. I hesitated and did not go only to regret it after the sun came out and nearly no wind. Sounds like you had a good day on the water.

Way to go Chief. Glad to finally see a successful post from Jordan. Most depth finders have a difficult time picking up fish on the bottom, but I know you are an expert at bringing them up from down deep. It's nice to see the crappie are finally at their cold-water hangouts.

Plenty of bait. I can't see it like Jordan Limit does, there was lots of Shad on the screen.
