Default It's always something... Part 2

I made my 1st dentist trip this morning after my tangle with my lab's head in Nov. My broken teeth have continued to have pieces break off. I was asked what I had in mind before I sat down in the chair and I said some store bought teeth. I figured I would get the "we can save those teeth" speech. Oddly, the hygienist said she was not optimistic about the future of my uppers. After she saw the x-rays of all my teeth, she didn't change her mind. My regular dentist spoke to me about other options but said for finances sake, an upper denture would be my best choice. The denture and implant specialist said what I had left and the fact I've had 4 periodontal surgeries, didn't give me any option but an upper denture. I still have to get my insurance pre-approved and worked out to see if they will pay for some of it since it was from an accident. Either way, it looks like some store-bought uppers and rebuilt lower teeth are in my immediate future. Wish me luck.

I don't envy you going through that. I broke my two front teeth when I was in high school and had a partial plate until 15 years later when a dentist put in a bridge. Over time the anchor teeth got loose, they were damaged when I broke the other two, so I ended up with a 10 tooth bridge. I had it for 30 years now and prices have gone up so much I could never replace it. Costs run $1000 to $1500 per tooth, so do the math and you could buy a nice boat.
I see my dentist twice a year for cleaning and my periodontist once for cleaning, so every 4 months I go. Sometime you have no choice, but no partial or false teeth will ever be as good as real teeth, at least not in my experience.
Good luck with your new teeth.
