    Default Caney Lake Information

For all of you who fish Caney lake at Chatham, LA, I met the new owner of the marina at the spillway today. I did not go fishing but was just driving by and thought I would turn in and look at the lake. The man who has bought the old marina was very nice. He said they hoped to be open by the middle of February. They are tearing down a lot of the old stuff and going in with new. He plans to have gas available at the docks and you will be able to pay at the pump. They will not have "hot foods" such as hamburgers to begin with but plan to add food later. He said they were going to start with the basics such as gas, ice, soft drinks, bait, and snacks. They will add other things as they can. He is very interested in hosting a crappie tournament. If you can, give him some business. I would like to see him succeed. The spillway is the most convenient place for me to launch.

This is another lake on my radar for March. I hear rumors of slab bluegills if you can find them. If I get down that way I will stop in for bait and provisions

If you're looking for slab bluegills, Caddo has a bunch.

Thanks for the tip. I will research caddo forsure. I figure to have at least 6 days to fish and don't mind putting on the miles to find quality fish.

Glad to hear that. I will stop and meet him. I usually go his way from Rayville to our camp. Met some guys last weekend that are catching some at night in 40 ft water.
