Tour....you can add anything that is OIL based to your plastic before cooking but I suggest using only those products sold where you buy your plastic making products. I don't cook in because too much of the scent is lost to the heat while cooking. And you can change the scent's smell by cooking it too. I mix some anise oil in worm oil [6 ounces of worm oil to 1/2 ounce of anise oil] and add maybe 5-6 drops of this blend to a bag of baits. This goes a long, long way. I think dipping would create a mess.

I was skeptic at first, then added about two table spoonfuls to about 4oz of plastisol,
foamed up a bit didn't pour until things stabilized, (have to admit coffee smell sure filled the man cave) let things cool next day bagged them with a little worm oil. to this day if the bag is opened the coffee aroma still there.
Not saying this will work for everyone,
but used bait with coffee grounds, and the same bait without (which I had my fishing buddy use) I won't compare the the tally, but lets say it made me a believer, and you can use the throw away grounds and save $$$$$.

Ones never to old to try something over a cup of coffee and reuse the grounds

    billygee
Billy you remember when we first tried that out in the coffee. well Billy the next thing to do would be to add some partially or how about some dill pickle oil.

yes I've even added on enamel paint to my plastic which is oil based even oil paints in the tube that the artist use I've even used it it works quite well the good thing about using oil paint the type that artist use is the wide variety of colors sometimes you will find that type of oil-based paint on sale. in a little warning here be careful if you are experimenting adding different types of stuff to plastic never never never use water based stuff in your plastic it will definitely explode

    Bob

At this point in time I'll just stick with just the grounds.

    Now!

seeing that I don't own a cauldron, and with your know how, this witches Brew you mentioned, could present some meaning.

Let us know of it's outcome.

Every species of fish seem to like a little something different But for ME. I Don't scent any of my plastics. I have always done better with no scent added to my plastics. I use soft plastic and say if it doesn't wiggle your not catching fish.

Like I say that's just my opinion. But if I add any scent to any of my plastics I just add a couple drops to a bag of my plastics and let them adsorb the scent in the bag
love to fish and make soft plastics

I don't use scent on my own baits and like Perch prefer to use soft plastic that moves without having to move it. For those wondering about an anise scent, here's the link to where I get mine at. NOW Foods - the official site of NOW Foods Click the link and find essential oils. I think I paid about $6.00 per bottle and the shipping was free. I got two bottles about four years ago and still haven't found the bottom of the first bottle. This oil is super, super potent.

all kidding aside guys I really don't use anything when I'm fishing with my plastics except maybe a crappie nibble if they get finicky about biting can't tell you how many hundreds of crappie that I have caught in my life without using anything in the way of some type of bait. . One maybe you never heard of out south here we used to use WD-40 and spray are spinning glows when we were fishing for salmon licorice oil I call it is very common that use it on anything and everything when it comes to fishing out West. there is one deadly thing you can do to catch crappie take a piece of their meat and put it on your jig they cannot resist it. years ago before we had any money to buy any jigs we used to catch one crappie and make cut bait strips and hang on a single hook underneath a float it is probably one of the deadliest combination there is yet.

Where do you get the worm oil. All I have been able to find it's premixed with something else like garlic or anise
