Default SI transducer transom mounting on Bass Tracker

Well, I finally pulled the trigger on a new unit. Ended up getting the Helix 10 SI GPS from BBG. Now I gotta mount it. Any advice on where to mount the HDSI transducer on a Bass Tracker with the Revolution hull for best results. Can I put in place of the transducer that is on it now, which is to the right of the motor looking at it from the rear. My current unit works pretty well in this location, but it is not a side imaging unit. It appears that it will shoot a signal past the motor with just a little bit of trim and possibly even with the motor all the way down. I know it can be tricky to locate these so any advice or pictures would be great. I'd like to do this just once...Thanks

Aluminum hulls can be finicky if you also want high speed depth readings from the stock SI xducer ...

This is because most boats rise out of the water on plane ...and an xducer would have to mounted lower than the hull to still be in the water on plane ...

This puts the expensive SI xducer in a susceptible spot for damage from debris ...

Some opt to mount the expensive SI xducer a little higher on the transom for idle-speed scanning ... And then use an additional 2d xducer (with the AS SIDB Y cable) mounted lower on the transom for high speed depth readings ...

Left or right of the motor doesn't matter as long as the motor doesn't hit the xducer at full lock left or right ...

Can you post a pic of your transom ... ??

I think Wilbur has some pix of a SI xducer on his aluminum hull boat ... Maybe he will post ...

You may get lucky right where the existing xducer is ...

Test it there and then report back with findings ...

I had a PT175 and mounted a Lowrance LSS1 on the "step" of the transom using one of those "glue on" transducer mounting blocks made of the cutting board like material. Followed the directions for mounting the mounting block with their epoxy and it held solid for the 2-3 yrs I had it mounted on that boat. I had the LSS1 mounted in-between the 2d ducer and the 60hp on my boat. It worked fine, and no damage. Mounted on the step provided some protection from objects, and it never got hit. I've since moved the LSS1 over to another tin boat, and it is mounted in basically the same position but current boat is a deep V with no step on the transom. I troll the majority of the time, so I'm not amongst the stumps and such much, if any. I am around docks occasionally and no damage yet.

The mounting block means you don't have to drill holes thru the hull itself and allows some room for moving the transducer around to fine tune if needed.
    GO BIG ORANGE !

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

I HAVE A BASS TRACKER AND HAVE MINE MOUNTED ON RIGHT SIDE OF DRAIN PLUG,WORKS FINE AS LONG AS I DON'T HIT ANYTHING,U CAN MOUNT IT A LITTLE FARTHER TO THE RIGHT THAN U HAVE IT NOW BUT WHERE IT IS NOW THINK ON PLAN U ARE GOING TO LOSE BOTTOM BECAUSE OF THE STEP IN FRONT OF IT.IF U HAVE TO MOVE IT TO THE RIGHT I WOULD NOT PUT MORE HOLES IN IT BUT DO AS JIMP SAID AND GLUE IT ON A BOARD
