Exclamation Broadway - Secession - Russell water report

Hooked up the kayak yesterday and made a run mostly to see how the lakes looked and didn't see anything I like much. I hope this info will help some of you with your weekend fishing plans. Good luck if you go and stay safe.

On my drive I swung by Broadway, I know a few of our members fish this small lake so I wanted to check it out. The lake has dam problems LOL really!! The dam has cracks in it and they were in the process of draining it before the great floods. The lake is down with maybe 20' of shore line and very muddy.

Secession, at the ramp the lake is very muddy. Didn't unload to try the fishing because I didn't bring a plow attachment, If I had been with my big boat I would have checked the whole lake out but with the kayak I just decided to give it a pass.

Secession, it is a deeper red than what it looks like in this picture.

Russell, the first picture was took at the bride at the Rampie boat ramp in Lowndesville. Very muddy water like the other two lakes. I road down to Allen Creek and the water is still muddy there but not as deep of red as the Rocky River was. The lake looks to be 2 to 3' out of the banks but I did unload the yak and fished for a couple of hours. The wind had picked up but wasn't to bad in the coves and the water temp is 57 degree, very warm for this time of the year. I'm afraid if the water temp doesn't drop soon the spawn with be messed up this year. We should be seeing water in the high 40's by now. Any ways I seen a lot of bait holding around 15 to 20' deep and all the bait I seen was in at least 30' depth with most of the bait in the 37' depth of water. Only caught four crappie and one spot with all of them in the 12'' class.

Good report Ronnie and thanks for posting it. I want to fish but think I'll give it atleast another week before trying it. I'll just try squeezing in another couple of hunts to pass the weekend and then our deer season will be over. Those lakes look good for catfishing now.

Hey Ronnie, at Allen Cr do I see the ramp about 4'-6' out and maybe close to a foot deep?

It is looking better at the ramp but as you get into the river the water is more dense. The wind was blowing the water around where the ramp is and was letting the water clear some around the edges. Another week and the water will look good if we don't get any more hard rains.

On the Rocky River part of the lake, the lakes start out with Broadway Lake and it feeds Secession which feeds Russell so that run is going to take a few weeks to get any better.

I dropped some condos in secession last night and it looks like chocolate milk from the upper end all the way to jets. Between the water and weather, we didn't bother wetting a hook.
