    Default Navionics Plus help please

    Hello,

I recently purchased a Humminbird Helix SI/Gps finder and have been looking to purchase a Lake card for it. Here's my problem. I fish mostly in Kentucky and Alabama. This would require me to buy the EAST and SOUTH regional navionics cards. That putts me at over $300 in lake cards. The lakemaster card offers no lakes that I fish. I bought the Helix thinking it would take the Navionics plus card where I can just download the lakes I want and it's not region specific. However Navionics decided to change the new PLUS cards to a 16 Gigabyte card which is not compatible with the Helix SI unit. It will however take the older PLUS 2 gb card. I cannot find the 2 GB card anywhere. All the retailers online I've checked are selling the newer 16gb cards. Can anyone point me in the direction to get one of the older 2 gb cards? thanks

The maps on the new Navionics + card (16gb) can be deleted and then just load the lakes you want on it ...

Here is some info from Wayne in another forum ... He explains it better than I ...

The discontinued version of Navionics+ (2GB) has no maps, you choose what locations to download to the card. Those locations can be the Gold and Hotmaps Premium maps. Plus you can download Sonar Charts.

Every new card includes a year of Freshest Data Updates. You can renew the Freshest Data Updates subscription after the year is ended for $99.

Navionics+ is customizable for what you want. You can delete, update, and add to the cards as many times as you want for a year. That includes all the maps on the preloaded version-some are doing that for units that have slow processors.

You can view the current maps on the Navionics website's Web App. You don't have to guess what the detail is for the locations you want. The Web App is updated every day "somewhere" so it is always current. You can keep up with any new data by doing a Freshest Data Update if you want.

You do not get the extra stuff that the Platinum version has like Satellite Overlay, 3D, and Photos.

Navionics maps are Nautical Charts-- all the products have the same map for a particular location.
Sonar Charts is user generated maps from uploaded sonar logs.

Navionics Hotmaps Premium cards have Nautical Charts and are regional issues.
Navionics Hotmaps Platinum cards have Nautical Charts, Satellite Overlay, 3D, Photos, and can have Sonar Charts downloaded and are regional issues.
Navionics+ is not regional and can have Nautical Charts and Sonar Charts of your choice.
Navionics Gold is mostly coastal, Great Lakes, major river areas

BTW ... If you choose the new Navionics + (16gb) ... There is no option to pick and choose which lakes to delete off the card ...

You have to delete all the lakes ...and then reload only the ones you want ...

Thanks for the info, not trying to question you, but have you heard of anyone that has done the delete and actually used the 16 gb card on the Helix SI?? I talked to humminbird a few days ago over the phone and they told me it would only accept the 2gb card. Thanks again

Here is a link to the Compatibility guide. I am not familiar with the Helix series. I can check with Navionics Tech support and get a definite answer, they are redoing and streamlining the product line.

Ok thanks for your patience. They are redoing the Map Card line up so I wanted to make sure I got the correct answer.
NAV+W which is the 2GB sized blank card, $249.00 US list. For the units that are not compatible with the larger media sized chips such as some of the Helix models, the MSD/NAV+W would be the card to get. It needs to be loaded with the charting information for both the Nautical and the SonarChart details on his computer. The customer can technically select any region within the world so he would want to choose US & Canada as the general region and then create the boxes around his specific area needs.
