This can sometimes happen if the battery is low, has a bad cell, or the wiring to the unit is insufficient to carry enough power to the unit to operate properly ...
Have the battery load tested ... Check all wiring (including the fuse and fuse holder) ...
Check the cable collector that attaches to the head unit ... Sometimes even removing the power cable from the collector and testing plugged directly into the unit can determine if there is a connection problem ...
