Go see Mr.Crow at Decatur Bait & Tackle. I got some of those new "Jimmy houston " Crappie rods. i think they were 29.95. Small diameter and the lightest I've seen. You can hold them straight out with the tip of your thumb and index finger. very sensitive.

I just started trying spider rigging this year (always been a dock shooter and brush jigger) but I bought the B&M BGJP (bucks graphite jigging pole) in 14' and 12' and love them. Although they are designed for jigging not necessarily for trolling I find them to be more than strong enough for spider rigging and very, very sensitive. I am very happy with them and you can buy them for less than $50 each.

Shelton's in Moulton Al has some 14ft and 16ft IM7 rods for 30$. They also always keep a decent cheap option of a reel to pair with them. I have not used the rods so I have no opinion of them. I have thought about buying a few to fill in some gaps on my boat. I use the 12 footers from Pinnacle bought from Grizzly and I cant say enough about the rods or the company.

I would go with the 10/12' at first. 14/16' are a lot of rod and tricky to handle.

Right now Grizzly Jig Company has some excellent deals on crappie rods under "deals and specials. $49.95 Lews Wally Marshall rods are $29.95 and there are other options. I have some of their cheaper rods and find they are excellent value for what they are. For a particular type of fishing I do, snatching mullet, they don't break like a 100% graphite rod.

Do yourself a favor and take a drive to Sheltons Clothing in Moulton, AL. They carry their own brand of rods. I believe I paid around $25 each for my glass rods. They have graphite for $39.00 all different sizes too!
