I have been wondering why folks don't put out lights at night over creek mouths or river channels and fish for slabs in Jan. and Feb. Is it because it is unsuccessful, to dang cold, everyone has work, or better results during the day?
I have had success in the past, but with a different twist. We go to lighted, deep water marinas.
When I was young me and my dad fished on Twin Bridges and Crooked creek Bridge at night the bridges was one lane and steel. We put lanterns on ropes and let them down to the water fish all night , caught a good cooler full, Had a walk through windshield boat we would fish in Beaverdam creek at the Plant in the warm water To keep warm on the bridge we have a 50gal can with tires and oil in, the boat a 5 gal can with sand and charcoal the Lord looked after ### { you know the rest of the story] we had these with lanterns hanging of the boat. O Lake Sinclair. Dad past and I like day fishing best Check South Caroline they have get to getters at night
It works much better in Winter as they a concentrated rather than scattered. Shallow humps near deep water work best for me. We did it for years in our homemade houseboat. Yes it had heat.....
I wish I had not lost those pictures.

Hobo, I remember going to Twin Bridges with my Daddy when I was only 5 years old. Everyone would hang their lanterns over the side and wear the crappie out at times. The worst thing was when a boat wanted to go under the bridge. We ate Keebler graham crackers with peanut butter on them. How I long for those good ole times.
Man we did the same thing on Twin bridges to but we ate saltines and vi Annie sausage
We used to go to Haslams marina bridge. A lot younger, would climb up to tracks to get more beer, but we caught fish. Now I sleep by 8, hard to fish from my recliner but remember good times that I ain't give up yet I hope.
Have a safe New Year
