Default Hummingbird Question - 898 w/ the helix models...

So have an 898 HD DI GPS model on the front of the boat with the trolling model (I think that is the right model, it is close to that if I am off a number or so). I have been wanted to put the a SI version the console reading from the back of the boat. And in the meantime, it looks like the 8something series has been discontinued - though it might still be available at some places it is going quick from what I can tell. What they have now is the Helix models in a variety of series (the 5, 7, and 9 is what I am seeing) that offers 3 or 4 models in each one. I am good with that if that is the way to go, but what I am curious about is the connectivity. I know if I had gotten two of the 800's I could network them (I know that requires some additional stuff) so that way points put on one would show on the other. Anyone know if you can do that a Helix model and the 800's series?

I have my Helix 10 hooked to my 1199HD with an Ethernet cable. My 898 had Ethernet capability because I had it hooked to my 998 via Ethernet cable.

Thanks MrDux... that is exactly what I was wondering. I know the 898 has ethernet capability, just was not sure if it was capable of talking to the Helix models... thanks a BUNCH!

The Helix 10 is the only model I have personal experience with. Some of the smaller Helix models may not be networkable.

I shut my 1199 off while on the water Saturday and lost my waypoints on my 10. We had only downloaded the waypoints onto the 1199.

With the 898, it kinda depends on what software revision you have on it.

If you update it to the latest version, they should network and share waypoints just fine.

I have my 898 updated to the latest software version, at least the latest one from back at the end of the summer...

I checked, so it looks the like the Helix 9 and above have the networking capability.

The Helix 9 comes with the compact Si transducer like the 899 did ..... I would recommend upgrading it to the HDSI.
