Yes, they are important, when looking for a reaction bite. They are harder to keep on but worth the effort.

Yeah! I started casting jigs with them this fall and had some luck. I'm not sure it was because of them but I'm not leavin the dock without them now!
I haven't trolled with them yet and wondered how they stayed on.

You might want to let them dry out a bit, before putting them on a hook ... they'll stay on the hook longer, if you do.

If you're using hollow tube jig bodies, you could also insert them into the hollow of the tube (or inject them) and the scent will still diffuse in the water ... and they'll last even longer than when on the exposed hook. You might lose the "effect" of the different color of the nibble, but you won't lose them to Sunfish, contact with underwater cover, water pressure of fast trolling speeds, or casting/splashdown. The scent trail may not be as heavy as with a totally exposed nibble, but it will last longer.

I try to use them each time I put a bait in the water. I do as Pappy mentioned. I'll take the lid off the jar, pour several into the lid, and let them dry out as the day goes on. If I have some that are dry at the end of the trip, I put them back in the jar for the next trip. If they get too dry they will break apart when trying to hook them.

When longlining, you will have to add new nibbles more often but I still think they make a big difference.

when the bite is tuff I try everything I can think of!!! I have used nibbles but not real sure how much it helps but it can't hurt. When the fish are hitting really good I think they'd bite a stick. JMO

I use them all the time. Like Mr Dux does, i let them dry out before i use them. Easiest way to dry them is to split the amount in the jar with another empty jar. They get more air to dry out this way.
