Everyone should practice strong hand, weak hand techniques.. Most of the time you will still be using your dominate eye, and not realize it. Cross-firing is not an acceptable technique to be encouraged in my opinion. Period

From a teaching standpoint... It is not the proper way to learn to shoot..You have to work harder to shoot that way..Yes, it can be done..a pistol is not so bad, but when you switch to a rifle or shotgun, it can be down right painful. I have seen people even get bloody noses..normally, your skill level will increase when you use the correct hand/eye combination. Anyway, that is what I teach...

I was talking about hand guns....thats the way I was taught to be able to shoot either eye either hand. Long guns I shoot right handed right eye......I was taught to shoot with both eyes open though.

I'm hitting but I've only ran maybe 50-60 rounds through a pistol. I need ALOT of practice. Kinda thinking about a little course for me and the wifey. I'd like to get our conceal carry. You can open carry now but I don;t want to advertize I'm carrying

You can get concealed carry permit without a class but....to get your permit enhanced where you have more privileges you have to take a class from a certified instructor. The class is a good thing...You also have to pass a shooting test and that's a good thing too.

If I were wanting to get one, I would go with enhanced..remember the "permit classes" are not set up to teach you to shoot..They are set up to show you are qualified to shoot. I have see people show up with a new gun still in the box, expecting to learn how to shoot that day. I highly recommend a basic handgun training for everyone wanting to carry. An untrained person can do more harm than good in a stressful situation

It seems that I have heard before, but how do you check to see which eye is dominate?

To check eye dominance ...touch your thumb and trigger finger of each hand together to form a circle..fully extend your arms...with both eyes open..focus on some object that will fit inside the circle...close both eyes...WITHOUT moving your arms...open one eye.see where the object is in the circle..close your eyes, then open the other eye...one eye will have the object perfectly centered...the other eye will have the object moved to the side...the perfect centered side is your master eye..
