Default Best place to park rv

Where would you recommend to park a 35 foot fifth wheel in florida and to fish for crappie and maybe occassional Bass fish. I've never been there before but I'm retired now and would like to spend january and feb in warm weather. Any advice would be appreciated. I have a 17.5 lund proguide boat.

Lake Crescent, Lake George, Astor area would be close to some fine crappie / bass fishing.
    Lake Crescent Campground
Rivers Edge RV Park (Lake George area)
And more than a few parks in the Astor area.

I guess the question would be what part of the state would you prefer.

As far as crappie fishing that area is very hard to beat.........................no worries about the errrrrr Green carp They are pretty much everywhere.

good hunting and hope you have a warmer winter and get a few slabs to boot!

It's according to what part of the state you would like to be located in. Most any of the lakes on the St Johns River offer great fishing this time of the year. If you're thinking about the panhandle area, Lake Talquin has a couple of campgrounds and a State Park. The middle of the state has the Kissimmee chain and further south has Okeechobee, both places with campgrounds that will accommodate your RV....Good Luck!!!

I would suggest Blue Springs State Park. Ramp on the St.Johns river is 5 minutes, Lake Monroe is about 10 minutes, Astor and Crescent are about 45 minutes, Lake Harney is about 35 minutes. Another option would be Rainbow Springs State Park, close to Withlacoochee, about 45 minutes from Sante Fe and Newnans, 45 minutes to gulf coast and right on the prettiest river in Florida. In the Panhandle look around Lake Talquin. One word of caution, you can not by no means double tow. So hopefully you have another vehicle to tow the boat so you do not get the FHP stopping your progress. And also up top is an Archives and Lake Lodging/campgrounds page with many parks listed. I highly recommend the state and county parks.

I know in Florida you can't double tow, is that pretty standard in other states or do most states allow the "double tow".

Some states do allow it under a certain length. Florida has a maximum length and absolutely no double tow. Will park you on the interstate and make you figure a way or be towed.

Palatka and Welaka area is also not out of the way for good fishing. Salt and brackish water fishing not too far either.

    Mike -
Thanks for the information - i was not aware that you couldn't double tow.

Always thought that as long as main unit was attached by use of 5th wheel,
rear unit could be towed on 2 or larger ball hitch.

Was ok in Indiana - never tried it in Florida other than towing 28' pontoon on
rear of 3/4 ton gmc with 10' slide in camper. That baby was long in itself.
Was awful close to 53 ft length

    Thanks for update
