Default Chickamauga lake: CCC crappie tx 12/12/2015

With over 82,000 CFS flowing down the river, it made it next to impossible to fish the river in the Chattanooga Crappie Club December tournament. I had a new partner for this one, one Ms Debbie Bileu, and we had a good time just fishing. It had been about a month since I had last crappie fished on Chickamauga and with the current flow, I had lost the handle on the Chickamauga crappie. We did manage to catch our biggest fish on a bluff eddy current on the main river, but only 2 fish from that spot.

We went back into the coves to fish docks and found one dock that had enough keeper fish to complete our 7 fish limit. 6.02 lbs for the tournament which put us about 1/2 back in the 15 boat tournament. A bass tournament went out of HBSP in the morning as well, so there were boats everywhere on the lake. Some of my deep water off shore brush piles had enough bass fishermen close to them and although they weren't exactly on the brush that I wanted to check out, we just left those guys alone. They were probably fishing for big bucks. Grin.

1.5" Panfish assassin in the crystal blue with a chartreuse taillight was our best lure and color under the docks that we fished. The bigger fish on that bluff came on 1/16 oz bobby garland blue ghost and a 1/16 oz Crappie Dawg lure with a chartreuse belly/purple back.

Debbie learned a lot about dock shooting and caught the only non crappie, a nice white bass, on her last cast of the day before we headed in for the weigh in.

Not a bad weight DK, since you haven't been crappie fishing in a while...Beautiful weather and day to spend on the lake! Thanks for the report.

    Always a good thing teaching
At least that is what my teacher has told me

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean there is no one out to get you
