Mom called me middle of the week and demanded a fishing trip. Who am I to deny.
We got to the lake around 0700. Wind was already at 10mph and varied up through 20 during the morning. At least the launch was somewhat protected from the wind and made getting under way uneventful.
We longlined until about 1000. Started with 4 rods each, but quickly went to 3 each to compensate the inability to control the boat in the wind, the gusts, and the direction changes. Ended up catching somewhere in the 30s, with 14 taking the ride home - big fish 1.71lbs. Today's catch was sponsored by luck, because there was no attempt to wrangle mother nature, just went with her. Boat speed varied between 0.9-2.0mph. After filling up the cooler, we took a fun bumpy ride around the lake. Was happy to have the windshield today.
My Mom could float on any lake with complete happiness. Putting her on some fish was just icing on the cake, and she beat me today, made sure I knew it, and loved every minute of it!
A man remembered never dies.
