Really enjoyed fishing this morning and the lunch afterwards. Richard was fun to fish with and I am glad he was able to come. I look forward to fishing with him again in the future. We caught 4 stripers and his first one also 4 green carp that was all keepers and around 12 perch that made him a good mess. I enjoyed meeting the Dawg and Gerald Cromer son. Looking forward to the next one. Don

Well Ray smoked us all today with about 30 fish and Don did right well too. My son Steve and I went to do a shake down cruise on both of our boats. Mine hadn't been in the water since last December, but that ole 40 4 stroke fired right up and Ray said that it was just to quite.... But when it came time for Ray and Steve to fire off, well it was just a lot grinding away of starters. Now to add insult to Steve’s boat, he had Ray’s ole boat that lost my primo fishing rod. I think yall remember that story. So we have both boats that won't fire off, is there a story about Ray's boats. But after a little sniff of starter fluid, they both came to life. But there's still more. After about a hour of Steve and me messing around in a large cove to stay out of the wind, he tells me that that boat had lost his good hat and his sun glasses... I'm beginning to think that boat is jinxed. we all had a great time and good food to top it off. It was good to be back on the water, now if the water would just get back in the banks of the swamp for about a week, I know where I'm going.

Good to see ya again Mr. Gerald. Glad ya'll got those boats running. Hope you get in the swamp soon. If you think of it post that fire log thing again for me. Wanna try one.
You talking about the picture of the one that I used in the swamp or how to make one? I see that lowes now sells them ready made and I think that I saw one somewhere else also. They were about half the size that I made. the bigger the log the longer they last. It's called a Swedish Log. We cut them like you see below, but we also cut a slot from one side to the other at the bottom the the vertical cuts. That acts like a flue to draw air into the bottom of the fire. That makes it really go.

What no pictures??? Glad y'all had a great time.
Don was it any size to the stripers and did y'all find any herring? Thinking about going Sunday. Thanks
Mark we were not fishing for stripers we were pulling jigs in Horse creek for crappie and did not catch a crappie. The stripers were al small around 18 inches. The fish we caught were feeding on bait balls. Every time the loons would come up we would head to them and as we pulled through we would catch some fish. I hope to start doing some striper fishing soon. I have to replace the transom in my aluminum boat before I can fish out of it. Don
If you need some help with it let me know. I can help on the weekends, kinda busy with work during the week right now. lol
