    Default Rain Gear Opinions?

Does anyone on here have a gortex rain suit? My old rain suit has gotten me soaked the last 2 times I have worn it. I am headed to bass pro this weekend and was wondering if it is worth the money to get one of those gortex suits. Just wondering if anyone had one and what their thoughts are on them or had any suggestions.

I have two. A bass pro shop pro qualifier for warmer days and a cabelas extreme guide wear for cold days. I would buy both again and would recommend them.

I also have enjoyed my Pro Qualifier from Bass Pro. Another good option, and cheaper is at West Marine. Can't think of the name right off, but the reviews are good.

Good rain gear is a must. Bps gear is good. I've got a pair of acadamy brand bibs which have impressed me and they are a third the cost. Not as good as. The bps. I got a huk jacket this year and I like it. My last bibs and jacket were Columbia. I got those in 2000. So a good setup should last a long time. It's worth it to spend the most you can.

My BassPro Pro Qualifier has done well for me, probably 6 years old. Normally I'm working when I wear mine so it's in and out of the truck 20-30 times a day, over the years I'm finding my knees and butt are starting to get wet.
I'm not sure if it's wear and tear or the water being pushed thru the Gortex. Bottom line is I'd get it again

One other thing to remember, especially when fishing is that your sitting down most of the time. You need to make sure your covered completely and coat isn't riding up, pants hanging low. For these reasons I reccomend bibs over pants, and parka over jacket.

FYI: If you want to save a good bit of money, and can wait until spring. Buy the rain suit during Bass Pro spring sale. They knock off 100 dollars on the pair.
West Marine done that on Cyber Monday for their rain gear, and will probably be running more sales before Christmas.

After a few years you have to retreat the water repellent, I've got the arctic Armour suite and a gortex suite, had them for 7 or 8 year now,Just retreated both of them back in the summer, just like new now. Nikwax is good stuff! I think its better than what they put on them new. You got to follow the directions right to get good results.

Cabelas normally has there gortex suits on sale in there bargin cave most of the time. Bought a new set last year and so far have not used them. The reason I haven't used them as I try my darnedest not to fish in the rain. To many good dry days to fish.
