    Default Spring river

I was with a party of 10 this weekend. We had cabins at Riverside Resort. We carried our kayaks to the dam and fished back to the resort. We caught our limit of trout and had a fine dinner saturday night.
    Planning for another trip soon.

That is a beautiful river but crowded in the summer time . You really eat Rainbow Shad ? It has good Catfish ,Walleye , Rock Bass , Brownies , and other native fish too. Have not been up there in years but fished it years ago and even Deer hunted close by once .

Sounds like a nice trip in your yak Jimmy. I think I heard there were sauger in the river also. Be fun to get into the walleye and sauger. Some people really love the trout, but I've never acquired a taste for them. Had a friend of mine that would fight ya for em tho.

I have had some great times and introduced some buddy's to trout fishing at the Riverside resort. Wake up to tame deer at your cabin catch the best eating trout from that Spring feed river. If your going to enjoy some trout that is the place to do it. Love how the cabins are right along the banks of the spring. The most beautiful river in AR with a waterfalls every mile or two. Glad you had a great time. I will be heading that way too again real soon. The head Spring coming out of the ground up there is beautiful with how it flows over the old Mill.

I'll have to check on bait for walleye and sauger, would love to get into them too. They want to plan a trip when it gets cold.
Some of us were using Berkley dough bait, rainbow was the best sometimes orange, roostertails, and small crank baits.
We filleted about 40 for dinner. I had 3 fillets, all I could stand I don't really care for the taste. One guy ate only fillets, nothing else. We had grilled corn on the cob and hashbrown/fries. I tried something new. After the corn was grilled I shucked it and placed it in zip lock bags. 6 ears per bag, added 1/2 stick of butter and salt the corn in the bag. Place it in the microwave for about 3 minutes roll the bags to mix the salt and butter some. It was done just right.
I've been there a few times during the summer. Not really a place to fish on weekends it's more a party place. Monday thru thursday are better.
We had cabins 1, 2 and 3. They are up the hill from the small cabins, no firepit at these. They have 2 queen beds in a bedroom, full bath, a sofa sleeper and a full kitchen for about $90 per night. Bring your own linens or rent from the store.

Glad you enjoyed your trip to Spring river it is a beautiful area. It sounds like the meal was great{not the cold water grinnel} love to catch-em though. I don't know if you've ever been to the white river in north central Ark. There are some resorts with nice accommodations and the trout fishing is really good.

Sounds like a very fun trip. I love to fly fish up there in the winter time when the canoe flotillas aren't present. Even though I fish for trout, I've caught spotted bass (or something like it), brim, a sucker, and a 3lb Walleye on wooly buggers. If you have a smoker, try the trout for 1-1/2 to 2 hours. I use hickory and they taste good that way. I bet the walleye and smallmouth would go for an 1/8oz crappie jig in the deep pools.

    Default Spring river

Jimmy, I heard you can catch the walleye and sauger on hellgrammites. I think they are dragonfly larvae. Not sure of their breeding cycle, but I also heard you can catch your own by flipping rocks around the river. I did see them advertised online. I googled it.

I live about 3 miles are so from Spring River, and it is some great trout fishing here. I don't eat them, they taste funky to me. Lot of guys say ...well if you do this, or that to them they taste ok. Shoot my boot would taste ok if you put enough stuff on them. I've tried to catch walleye in the river, but never hooked up with any. Right now with all the heavy rains we're having, the river will me muddy a few days.

I'll post as soon as I find out the date of our next trip. You can join us and fish if you like. Some of these guys love them and want to take home all they can. Some of the wives are crying, when do we get to go? We'll see when more cabins are added.
