Thread: Grenada in springtime

Just exactly how was I to know I was supposed to call the office in January since I've never even heard of it. This'll be my last comment on this because like I said I don't need the headache never heard of habitat day where I fish you don't typically have to make your own cover unless you choose to because the lakes that are fish do not go up and down 40 or 50 feet

Crappiejim, Excuse me for being too simplistic in what I'm saying. Volunteering for the corp sponsored habitat days is a public service for a really good purpose on a public body of water using a lot of materials furnished by the corp through public taxpayer dollars. Even though some threads may imply that you shouldn't fish artificial habitat that you didn't put out that's simply not the case. In some places the stake bed fields cover acres and acres. Fishermen by the thousands come here from all over the world and fish every inch of this lake, many are guided to these spots by professionals or taken there by friends. Some find them on their own, but they're not off limits. Everybody uses them. When it comes to nonvisible structure very fisherman with sonar is encouraged and taught to find the underwater trees and stumps and fish the heck out of em. Drive a stake or drop a cedar, it will be fished because it's part of the public domain. Not every person has a 4 wheeler, not every person is physically able, not every person has that day off, or lives close enough, or maybe they have family responsibilities, or maybe they don't have an excuse, but they're not lower class fishermen. Thank-you Big C, Goodtime, Cray, Slabin and all the others for volunteering. It does make a difference. Thanks Crappiejim and all like you who are trying to become part of this community and fit in. In March the lake will be anywhere from 199 to 203. I wouldn't worry too much about stake beds. Go up river until u get in the stump fields. You could fish the whole month of march and never fish the same stump twice. At certain levels the stakes are productive because there is too much water over the top of the lower lying stumps. At this point around 208 u will do good in them. Once its over 210 its on, u can step off into ironwood thickets and fish for days. Like others said, go out and put some time on the water. Place some structure if you like. I wouldn't ask much about stake bed locations though. If all who fished participated, u wouldn't have any trouble locating beds.

Last year I went on the Sardis Lake Eagle Walk and to my surprise I could see a few state beds around Pats Bluff. This year I plan to go up by Wyatt Crossing.
