Default Kayak Trip Report, Limestone Bay

I fished Limestone Creek today, fish were very slow but I kept 18 Crappie and a few gills. All caught spider rigging in two to three feet of water with pink and pearl bobby garlands. The water was 58 degrees at daylight and warmed to 62 degrees by lunch.

I installed a new fishfinder/GPS (Garmin EchoMap 43dv) on my kayak, should help on those occasions where I’m looking for submerged brush.

Great job ditch. Figured you'd be shallow with the sun and do alright.

    overtonas,

Spider rigging is using multiple poles in rod holders keeping a tight line. Great way to cover lots of open water.

I caught a bunch of blue gills on sunday from the same hole I was catching crappie from... those things bug the crap out of me when they hit instead of a crappie.

Great catch, I would like to see a pic of your set up. How many poles you spider rig with and how you have them mounted. Sounds like another great way to fish from a kayak.

I'll be curious what you think of the Garmin EchoMap 43dv. I haven't been impressed. The maps for Limestone Bay just appear to be the old topo maps. They show channels out in the bay that have long been filled in with silt. I keep hoping that I just have a setting wrong or something.
