We fished Grenada on Friday the 6th, you had to be on your toes watching 4 poles each for the moment that that rod tip straightened out. If you didn't set the hook fast, they'd spit that minnow out faster than you could say "oh crap". I think the moment they felt any resistance in lifting the weight on our double minnow rigs they would spit it out. That rod tip won't straighten out until they pick that weight up for a split second. I've caught a lot of fish single poling by watching my line barely slacken, so little you can't or barely can feel it. Also when I use a float I only use a very small tapered one so the minute they pick up on it it will lay on it's side. I would never use a round one or one with some weight on the bottom of the float, neither of which will give you an indication of them pushing up on it. You've just got to be faster than the fish to set the hook.
Yep, similiar to a bass set but faster and not as hard.
Snatch it sideways.
We only sell the Best. Ranger, Xpress, Yamaha, Suzuki, Tohatsu.
Rip them lips! Hard hook set, don't limp wrist it or your gonna miss the fish!

I was dippin in a hole in the grass in pretty clear water a while back. I was standing up on the deck in front and could see down in the water pretty good. I watched a small fish come up and take my jig twice and spit it out and never really saw the line move or felt anything. Now that don't happen often but gives you some idea just how light they can bite at times
