OK ...so I uh-oh'd on my math here and forgot a step in the equation ...

The above numbers in my quote are "total screen pixels" ...

    Here is "pixels/square inch" ...

    Helix 12 - Diagonal 12"
actual screen dimensions have not been released yet ...
    1280(h) X 800(v) = 1,024,000
    -----
    Helix 10 - Diagonal 10"
    8.375"(h) x 5.0"(v) = 41.875 sq. in
    1024(h) X 600(v) = 614,400 pixels
    614,400 / 41.875 =
    14,672.2 pixels/square inch
    -----
    Helix 9 - Diagonal 9"
    7.75"(h) x 4.25"(v) = 32.937 sq. in
    800h X 480v = 384,000 pixels
    384,000 / 32.9375 =
    11,658.4 pixels/square inch
    -----
    -----
And I'm tracking down the ONIX actual screen dimensions to give accurate "pixels per square inch" ...

    Sorry about that ...

This is what I get.helix 12 is 12.1 diagonal and is 16.9 rasio
    5.87 (v) × 10.46 (h)= 16,677 pixels per square inch,give or take a few

The onix 10 is a 4.3 rasio, comes up to 16,384 pixels per square inch(give or take a few)

I found the ONIX dimensions ...:

    ONIX 10 - Diagonal 10.4"
    8.50"(h) x 6.375"(v) = 54.187 sq. in
    1024(h) x 768(v) = 786,432 pixels
    786,432 / 54.187 =
    14,513 pixels/square inch
    -----

    ONIX 8 - Diagonal 8.4"
    6.75"(h) x 5.0"(v) = 33.75 sq. in
    1024(h) x 768(v) = 786,432 pixels
    786,432 / 33.75 = 23,301 pixels/square inch

I will add the HELIX 12 when we get verification of actual screen dimensions (I'm sure kosmo is close) ...

Here's two pictures, that I find interesting. The person that took these pictures was comparing the helix 10,DI to the onix 10 di.He sad that using the onix,it was on default setting, while the helix 10,he had to make alot of adjustments to get his best picture. (Imo) I think the helix 10 DI picture is much better than the onix 10,in these two particular pictures. The reason this interest me ,I've got an onix 10,and agree that for the most part,it does deliver some pretty good pictures but in some instances, I would like to tweek it,but I just can't seem to get good results, like I can get with the core units, using there software. So this helix seems interesting.

It's really not an apples to apples comparison unless viewing both units live on the water ...

Any images taken on the ONIX are saved in JPEG compression format ...

Which means any ONIX images (on any external media) is not going to be same quality as the initial live image on the ONIX display ...

    See this ...
Onix not selling well? - Page 6

This will make it very difficult for external media or Internet comparisons between HELIX and ONIX ... simply because once the ONIX image is not actually "live" on the ONIX display anymore ...that very ONIX image is not "true" to what the user would see "live" on the ONIX display ...

You already have ONIX for the "live" ONIX images ...

You just need to have HELIX images on your phone or laptop to compare ...(HELIX images are in PNG which should be the same quality on the unit "live" and on external media) ...
    -----

The challenge will be for those that don't have access to ONIX ...because all they will have for comparison is external media ONIX images ...which are compressed into JPEG ...and not the same quality as ONIX "live" images ...
