Default Green River Lake "REPORT" ...

Went Wednesday with buddy and fellow member Paul, to do a little Crappie fishing.

Vertical jigged in ~20-30fow on downed trees, using 1/16oz weedless jigheads & plastics (and I even had a minnow under a slip float @ 15-20ft deep, part of the time). Caught 8 good fish (10"+) and threw back twice that many dinks (one of which was barely 6" long ) and all the "almost legals" (* those fish barely over the 9" size limit)

Two colors/brands of plastics accounted for all (keeper) fish caught :

Southern Pro Crappie Slug (1.5") in "Popsicle"
Slab-a-nator Shad body (2") in "Pokeberry Pie"

Probably would have caught more, but several other boats were camped out on the rest of the trees that I knew about.

Smallest fish (center) is almost 10" (for scale).

Water color was still ever so slightly brackish/dingy from the turnover or recent rains ... lake was almost 3' over Summer Pool ... water temps ranged between 64-67deg. Schools of Shad were running mostly in the 5-15ft deep range, but stomach contents showed that the fish are feeding on them.

We were told by some fellow Green River Lake Slabanators (FB club members) that you had to put the jig right down into the brush/branches to get bit .... and that tip was "dead on" !!

Informative report, and nice size slabs to boot. My Wife and I fished Green last Fall after it got over 3" of rain and struggled, Id take a catch like that any day.
