The largest was 3lbs 1oz, I have also been bless to have caught 3 more 3lbs. and some where around 30 fish that weight 2lb 14oz to 2lb 15oz all were caught in Santee. It only took 55 years to do this, but what a great time I had.

My 2 personal bests came on back to back days this past March while fishing Clark's Hill for the S.C. Crappie Association Classic. I took the Friday off before the tournament to practice and had not been on the lake but one other time in my life and that was about 5 years ago. We must have hit them just right because I found the fishing to be good everywhere we went on the lake. My second stop of the day landed me in an area where we eventually won the tournament the following day. I boated a PB 2 lb 10 oz hen loaded with eggs in that spot during practice.
Then, on tournament day, we went back to the previous day's big fish hole and started fishing. An hour went by with no bites and I was beginning to panic. Finally, a rod went down and i had a new PB on the line! A 2.79 weighed on the tournament scales.
Due to the circumstances and catching them back to back days I'm getting both the fish mounted. The 2 lb 10 oz was weighed on a cheap set of Rapala scales and I'm not sure how accurate they were. The 2.79 weighed 2 lb 9 oz on the same Rapala scales so I have my doubts on their accuracy. And the practice day fish appeared to be bigger in a side by side comparison. I was, and still am, very proud to have caught each of them!
Both were caught spiderriging the shallow water in the back of a creek.

My best ever was in March 2012, longlining on the Hill. Already had my best big fish day ever, with a 2 lb 2 oz, 2lb 6 oz, and a 2 lb 9 oz in the livewell. Hung a heavy fish that I was sure was a flathead catfish...almost fainted when it surfaced. I quit fishing and drove to Iva, SC where they had a contest going on and certified scales. After weighing the "small" three, I pulled out the giant and she weighed 3 lbs 10 oz. Kept all 4 swimming in my 50 gallon bait tank for 24 hrs while I pondered mounting options. In the end I released them all at the boat ramp closest to my house (and even closer to GABowman's house!) Still waiting to re-catch them....
P.S. One more funny story, the next day I took two gentlemen fishing who had never been crappie fishing. A trolled rod goes down, and one reels in a fish weighing 2 lbs 12 oz. He turns to me and asks "Is this one big enough to keep?"(And he was serious!)
