    Default Halloween Slabs

Since the flood the fishing at Santee had slowed from what it was prior. I haven't been fishing as much here lately due to other obligations, but the times I have been found me splitting time between fishing and placing brush out. I've been in the process of building some larger piles in deeper water out on the main lake in an attempt to add a different as aspect to my brush fishing. Back to the fishing I've been doing. I've been catching lots of fish, but many little guys have been in the mix. I've been averaging 15 to 18 keepers over the last couple weeks up until this weekend. The last couple of days have found the big fish biting nicely, with limit catches made each day. Numerous two pounders were caught, along with many 1.75 to 1.5 lb. fish. Minnows seemed best in the stained water areas, and jigs in orange and chartreuse best in the clearer water. The lake is down 1.5 feet from full pool, with water temps hovering around 65 degrees.

A 2.38 and 2.29 lb. slab anchored the Halloween catch.

It is good to see the fishing is getting back good ag Santee. Nice crappie and colder waters just seem to go together. Enjoyed the report and pics.
