Reeldawg, I have not fished in 3 yrs and that's the truth. I'm just going by what I know of Wylie and if the slabs are still in the spots I know of ( and it sounds like they are) I think I can get them to bite.
I'm still not sure if we'll be able to make it with he motor not running. We are hoping to get it running in time. I'm ready to start fishing again.

As long as he fishes and catches em legal he is a go.

Welcome back. I am sure one of the good Wylie fishermen will answer your post. I am still trying to learn how to fish for crappie on deep water lakes. I grew up fishing backwaters in the Mississippi Delta where you can catch Slabs in 3 feet of water fishing 18 inches deep 6 feet from the bank and there are cypress knees every where with crappie holding near most everyone
