Brett, I use a crab net with an aluminum handle added to make it longer. I did think about making it a floating net with adding a pool noodle but it's to bulky to handle. LOL

Does the extra handle extend/ or is it fixed in place?

Brett, it is fixed position it lays on the floor boat until I get to the river then it sits in a rod holder.

Lawless, I guess you could if you wanted to. I Know the metal ring of the net is heavy and would require something a little more to keep the handle sticking up in the water.
    Spray foam may work good!

+1 on the crab net...only real draw back is it can be a real pain to get a hook out of the small mesh net.

I have 1 that is fixed and 1 that is telescopic (old car/camper washing pole). The only drawback I've found is trying to land a big striper or catfish you just have to net them head first.

I have an Ego Reach hung in my boat shed and use a Cummings net I picked up from Mark Dangue at The Crappie Hole in Chapin, SC. Just guessing since I aint near the boat...the handle is about 5' long and extends to @ 10' long. I replaced the regular net that came with the Cummings with the rubber net from my Ego net. Light weight and can be used one handed when a fish needs netting from one of your longer poles.

another one for crab net mine has a coarse webbing so the hook and fish done get hung up in it and the drop lead slips right back through it when it falls through the netting === only has something like a broom handle on it about 5 ft. long == I fish near the boat so don't need no 25ft. net handle
