What would you do?
Off work tomorrow, me and dad are going fishing. Probably leave the house at daylight since he doesnt want to get out there before daylight. Plan on putting in at honeycomb unless anyone has another suggestion. I figure there is a bridge, boat houses and deep bluffs and it's the closest to home. No clue what the crappie are doing right now as I usually only fish under the bridges for them and dad used to bump bottom for them along time ago and they seem to have got away from that method. Bridge boat houses or deep creeks, where would you start at first? Thanks in advance

I'm sure the Honey Comb bridge can produce some crappie Try the pilings from 6 to 12 ft or deeper. The boat houses should hold some crappie as well.

With the cooler mornings I would watch for bait fish action .and the birds the fish should be up close to top early then as sun comes out I would go deeper them boat houses usually holds fish as well.

slabprowler,
That's a page from my play book! Once the sun gets overhead, I'd look for them on brush and/or boathouses in 10 to 12 feet, but they'll be shallow and on the baitfish schools early. Everything I've caught shallow or deep for three weeks has been stuffed with shad.

Thanks yall! Hopefully we can catch some and catching enough for a fish fry would be better. But no matter what I'll cherish my time on the water with dad as I always do. Thanks again!

Ended up putting in at Preston island first, no luck there so we went to the dam and fished around the walls, ended up having 9 keeper crappie, 4 were decent and the other 5 were barely keepers so we ended up turning them all loose to be caught again another day. Caught a bunch of small stripes also and dad caught 4 catfish fishing on bottom (he did catch 1 of the bigger keepers, a white crappie right off bottom) all caught on minnows

How deep were the Crappie?

Fishing in 15 ft I was catching mine around 8 ft and dad caught a few right on bottom

I'm hoping to get out this weekend, I know there's got to be some shallow right now!
