    Default Canyon Lake Crappie

With night time temperatures dropping into the 40's and 50's, the water temperatures are steadily improving, as well. I am beginning to see morning water surface temperatures in the 70's. I am still catching nice size crappie on main lake points. The points closer to the river's mouth are more productive. The crappie are still holding very near the bottom at about 16' to 22'. As always, jig colors change frequently; sometimes every few hours. Pearl colors have been the most consistent. Minnows are working very well.

Try setting a bobber stop at about 2' to 3' above the bottom, use #2 Matzuo Sickle hooks with a minnow and start catching. You can do the same with jigs or jigs with minnows. Use your trolling motor to slowly move around to locate the sweet spot.

Thanks for the great report. I need to get down to canyon lake sometime. Only been there a couple times upriver and it was a blast.
