Politician=the American farmer? Wow. Ouch. I was under a tractor this afternoon trying to get a lift cylinder pin out laying in the ants thinking that this is not a smart way to make a living. I know there are some jerks out there that like to think they are something special because their family had a business but not here. Just trying to be a good father, friend, and neighbor.

I know cuz. Been kinda grouchy lately. Nothing a day of fishing can't cure. Hasn't rained enough to measure here since July 5. Opposite of y'all up there. I'm sure you were thinking about building an ark this summer.

As far as we are concerned they need to get rid of all of it and find a stable insurance program that can't be scammed by the unscrupulous. We have multi state farmers that move yields all over the U.S. to make it pay. Makes no sense to those who do it right. Peanuts..........

"Upland cotton is no longer considered a covered commodity, but the upland cotton base acres on the farm are renamed “generic” base acres. Producers may receive payments on generic base acres if those acres are planted to a covered commodity."

Peanuts. At least that is what is growing on the ex-cotton farm across the road from my farm.

And no, I don't farm anymore. I got out when I was in my late 20's. My great great Gran-dad farmed, great Gran-dad farmed, Gran-dad farmed, Dad farmed, and I farmed. Heck, my family has been farming somebodies land since they got off of the boat in the mid 1600's in Virginia. It was tough for all of em. I went back to school, and got enough education that I could find an easier way to make a living.

Not surprised. Again, part of the reason I let someone else rent the place.............. Course, we gave up cotton and went all corn 15 years ago when Dad still farmed. Man that farms my place is all corn and soybeans this year.

Everybody's life and job has ups and downs. 2/3 of the planet would kill to have our life and struggles. Lots of food, lots of problems. No food.....one problem. Grateful to live in the good ole USA.
