    Default Right??? or wrong???

I have a Elite 7 HDI. This unit has never shown DI as avertised. After several calls and excuses and " try this, or try that" my unit is out of warranty. Lowrance wants $250 for a refurb unit....Just to be able to get DI. I am sorry but at this stage DI is not worth $250. Also what was wrong with the refurb unit, was it repaired, or is this just a way to keep the customer paying. I am sure that Lowrance , like Humminbird and others make quality units and that I just got a lemon. Right now I don"t have any warm and fuzzy feelings and would have to do a lot of soul searching to go with this brand. If I had more than problems than DI, maybe I could justify in my mind the cost, but almost half price is , in my mind, a little steep. A lot of fishermen have units that cost......BIG.... money., but $600 bucks is BIG money to me..... crappie1133

Brother, I have no answer to your dilemma ... but, I've questioned from the start about discontinuing some of the Elite DI only series units, just to add 2d sonar back into the unit. I can't say & don't know if the adding of 2d sonar has any negative effects on the unit's capacity to produce good DI images ... but, I've had my DI only unit for several years & don't miss having 2d sonar capabilities, even after 40yrs of 2d sonar unit usage prior to purchasing the DI unit.

Now, I will say that any & all brands of depth finders will show the best images available in their ads and on their packaging. They're all in competition with each other, so it's a gimme that they would do so. I've always figured that ... if I get >75% of the advertised capability of a product, and the price was affordable, and the product gave me better results than the product it was replacing, then I was getting a decent deal. Any greater percentage than that, and I consider it a "great" deal.

You got any screen shots to show us, so that we may understand what it is about the DI images that you are not satisfied with ??

Seems to me that if you opened a "tech support" ticket regarding this issue while the unit was covered under warranty, then it should have been resolved to your satisfaction no matter if the original warranty expired or not.

Sorry CP, I have no DI images to show.I seem to loose the DI when the unit gets hot. I have tried all types of setting and none of them seem to work. I have done soft as well as hard resets. Some of the time there is hardly any bottom showing at all. I have tried new transducers.... same results. I have hooked up my relay switch and can switch from front to back transducer. I can get 2D and GPS and will live with that. I will not play the money game just to get DI . I agree with what vic n said. The problem was reported before the warranty ran out, but if you can stall long enough the warranty will soon be over. I reruse to play by their rules and will not pay any more.......crappie1133

Remember: "The squeaky wheel gets the grease" If you reported the issue before warranty ran out, then you have a legitimate complaint. Keep calling them and demand an answer. You paid for a feature that is not working and you should keep asking for a manager to speak with. Work your way up the food chain. Have all the history of your calls so you can tell them to the manager, including dates. This forum can hurt Lowrance sales if they don't improve their customer service

Yep, but the squeaking wheel often gets a greased shaft too.
