Everytime I see those pics and hear the stories of the saltwater fish I'm envious of the coast area. When I see those hurricanes coming I'm not. I was in Florida a couple times when their was one about a hundred miles or so offshore. The surf and wind I experienced then was enough for me to leave town. Hang in there.

When the claims start flying, it is good to be up at the front of the line. I live near the shore of the Lafayette River, and have made a couple of claims already--Isabelle and Sandy were the last two. At least I have a generator, and a boat. That is pretty much fat-catting it in a flood...

I made it this time, without a claim. Usually, I loose my ductwork in my crawl space.

Funny you should mention Venice...I have been wondering what the City's/FEMA's long-term plan is for this neighborhood. Well, about a third of the houses have been raised about 10 feet. You can see 3 of them in the picture below, with the row boat. FEMA pays to raise your house after water comes in the home 3 times...I think that is the plan. Gradually, all the homes surrounding that area for a couple of blocks will be raised, and then one day--the water will never leave. I see it coming, having been in the neighborhood since '86...Little Venice on the Lafayette...

First, Dayton and Vic thanks! Really are sone good folks around here.
Good news is not much in my part of Ocean View, did see some trees down a couple blocks away. East Ocean View got flooded pretty bad, close to what they had from Isabel.
Ed how was it down your way? Saw one of the weather geeks say this morning that Sound side would be worst today when the wind comes around.

No big deal down here Boscoe. Normal high tide with a hurricane. No Isabelle type stuff here. Bayside marina was about 15 feet away from getting water in the floor but it receded. I have not seen where it muddied up anything either. That may change in a few days as the water comes down the creek. I got to check milo tomorrow to see if it has sprouted in the head. Heard someone had that going on. Also beans sprouting in the pods on some neighbors beans that are an early variety. I got a feeling the peanut crop is shot and the cotton probably is too. Glad I dont grow either of them anymore.CF
