I fished Limestone Creek this morning. Fish were scattered, all caught on a 1/32oz spinner with a 1” white twister tail. Took home a limit of Crappie and half a limit of gills. Water was 62 degrees.

Every day is a holiday and every meal is a picnic.
I heard white has been HOT and been wanting to try some of those Garland Lil Swimmers. I just thought I had a good day today. Thats a good batch of fish
It seems the only temperature range where I can get them to chase a spinner is 65 degrees, plus or minus a few degrees. I look forward each spring and fall for that magic range. I caught a couple dozen bass up to four pounds, fun on a little casting reel with 4 pound test.
I threw a white spinner for a couple of hours in there Friday and never caught anything. my buddy got 1 slab in a gravel pit on a squirrel tail and that's all the action we got. I guess we just picked a bad day. couldn't find any bass either........usually can catch a couple of limits of those.....
Nice mess ditch, you da man!
You the Man.
I had a couple questions about the spinner I was using. The challenge often with Crappie is their refusal to chase a bait. Add to that fact I’m usually fish very shallow water and you have a unique problem. How to slow down your retrieval to a crawl without dragging the bottom. Crappie will also only move up or forward to take a bait, they don’t look down. If the bait is below them they’ll never see it.
I posted earlier this summer of stumbling onto the Blue Fox spinners at Wal-Mart. I was very successful catching gills on these along with many crappie. I later found some little 1”, ARKE, twirl tail jigs also in Wal-Mart. By adding this 1/32 oz jig to the Blue Fox, short arm spinner you have a perfectly balanced little bait. You can reel the lure amazing slow even in 12” and 18” inches of water allowing the fish to see both the spinner and movement of the tail. The little tail is also amazing tough, I’ve used the same one all day on Crappie and gills. The one in the photo has been through two days of fishing.
