    Default Worth the effort ?

After messin with Grannie's ride today ( which I got back together by the way ) , I got time to look at my poor boat sittin there. She looked rejected. Question for you pro's ! After a long hot dry spell with lake down 3-4 foot. Now we get 1-2 in. of rain in a couple of days. Is it worth the effort to drag the old boat out and find some hungry fish? Heard of the perch on fire on Wylie. Scattered reports of crappie also. What will all this rain do to em? Poor old boat needs to be wet and slimy again. Long line or minners ? Help a poor boat get back to normal.

All I can tell you is you can't catch them if you don't go.

John, the fish are already transistioning towards the backs of the creeks so finding them on the graph ought not be too terribly hard. Start looking along flats in 15'-20' of water and move shallower from there. Ive only went once lately and that was out my back door and caught a good many for a short trip and what I cleaned had shad in 'em. I KNOW theyre following the bait so find the bait and the fish wont be far away. Now, minners or jigs? Well, you KNOW what I'd use but the fish should be biting both. You wont know until you go. Like Ray said....cant catch 'em at home.

John, I know you wont catch anything without me in the boat, longlining should do the trick. I would swing by and get me and my jig box and head on over to Nivens . Then go straight out to old Joslin park and hit the shallows. What use to be 30 foot. LOL We could hit in front of Elks park. Then head up river to our secret spot where we started out the last time we went. I'd said we could do pretty good. The rain won't hurt them the temp has stayed the same pretty much. Day guys are doing pretty good on the deep side to shallow in and around brush. So if I don't get that call I know you went without me.

New growth of grass has covered that rod up. I had a guy tell me he was walking the shoreline looking for fishing stuff up in the trees. Good way to get some tackle if you don't want to spend the cash for it. Just replace the hooks!

Dawgg , I thought you was workin Sat. p.m.
Anyway you didnt miss a whole lot. Found several of brettw's nunny holes. You know the one's he fishes in. Tried Little Allison ,Big Allison ,The Secret spot and a few others. Nothing but perch ,cats ,and peanut green carp. Not one crappie to be found. Pulled jigs for bout 3 hrs. Only cats and green carp. Went to minners. Found the perch for sure.Wind was a big problem for me. Hate fishin in the wind. Lake looks real bad. If all this rain comes in the lake it wont help much. Nivens ramp is gonna be soon if it dont rain a bunch. But we tried and had fun just gettin the old boat wet and slimey again. No pictures. Left phone in the truck this a.m. Sorry bowman. Maybe next time.
