That's great but who is going to enforce it. Never have seen them get after anyone and most of that has been in effect for a long time.

"Drivers must possess a state-issued driver’s license or a certificate of completion of an ATV Safety Course as provided in Miss. Code Ann § 63-31-3, except in an emergency situation.
No drivers may be under 16 years of age and all vehicles shall be operated in accordance with posted restrictions and regulations and in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws at each site."
Certificate of completion of an ATV Safety Course can be had at age 12.
Like Cray said, sounds like a bunch of old rules double talk.

i'm not an atv rider and really not familiar with the problems on the reservoir other than what I've read on this site, mainly tearing up stake beds. I read the link to the regs. What's the main thing we hope to improve?

Alcohol is the issue!!!!! Enforce that and it will save lives. If other corp lakes are like Sardis it's nothing but a drunk fest with kids in daddy's 50,000 dollar truck and 8,000 dollar atv running wide open on the lake bed. Also the occasional bmw and Lexus that gets stuck out there as well.

folks getting killed will always trump who contacts their senator/ congressman . Too answer downsouth's question as to what we can gain . # less meth labs and growing pot on c.o.e. property . (will not end, but will deter some). #2 Less underage drinking and vandalism . Canebreak/ Crey are spot on with the doubletalk . Most if not all of this has been in the regs. for sometime . The no deter/no chase policies are not stopping atv by rangers or sheriff deputies in patrol cars in the middle of the night .It IS also illegal to fish without a license but many do . Old saying "can't cure stupid !"

Butla was the first to change the rules. I use to drive out on the flats to my favorite creek and fish from my tailgate. Daddy's boy running that high dollar repair daily rig changed the rules. I don't have an ATV so If I fish that spot I must walk about a mile with cooler, bait and tackle.
Do an age check and what you are driving. An '80 Datsun 210 ain't going to do any damage like 14" wide mudders will do.

It will only deter the honest law abiding folks....the misfits and the hoodlums will continue. Its easy to make new laws....but hard to enforce due to limited manpower etc. Not saying they won't bust a few but no way will they ever get them all.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.
