    Default few nice river fish.

Haven't been on in a while. My work is finally starting to slow down so I took the boat out on the river. Didn't catch many but had fun. Caught 11 most all the same size 11-12" whites in creeks in Meldahl pool. All on jigs.

    Hey Robin
Good to see you posting again. I'm looking forward to the winter fishing season.
Hopefully we can get out a few times together again this year.

Good fish. I've been wasting my time chasing bass on the river.

Went again today.... Had fun it was really nice out. Still not convinced I'm doing something right. We had prolly 10 crappie, 7 of those at 5-6" the rest dandies. Same way..... I'm thinking about drowning minnows next trip

Not really. You will catch several early in the morning right on the bank and then need to switch over deeper as the morning goes on. Never know what you will pull out of that water. Yesterday caught 1 nice crappie on a deep-diving crankbait. Usually smallmouth, largemouth or spots with an occasional catfish, drum or gar. All small though. Slow rolling crankbaits has been productive.

Robin, you are giving me the fever.

    Nice fish!
I just got back from 2 days fishing the river backwaters in Markland Pool. Managed a number of smaller fish and only 1 over 10". My dad and I even threw lights out and fished til midnight in a favorite hole but did not do very good.

One thing is the river, at least in that section, is not in good shape right now. The algae was terrible. It looked like pea soup. Much worse than what I've seen at East Fork in the last couple of years. I don't know if this has any affect on the fish though. But fishing was tough, last night and this morning. Still trying to figure out where those bigger river crappie go from July-Sept. Another month, we should be catching nice ones from the same spots.

Pea soup you got that right! I only caught one stinking crappie today in one of the two creeks I fished. It was a monster white but geez. I wonder if this algae could be throwing the fish off?? It is very very thick!! My boat trailer from backing it in these past few days has went from silver to pea green.
