Thread: Billion Shad -No Fish in the Pool

Put in at Dano's yesterday. Fished the cedars in Caney Creek, a couple of brush piles around the deep water at the Gold Creek point area, and shot all the docks on the south bank. Of course I didn't catch anything, but what else is new?

Went to the pool just to scout around a bit. There was shad everywhere and bass or something popping them on the surface. Wish I had of had a top water bait with me. Fished just under them with tipped jig, but nothing.

With the shad moved in, I assume the crappie won't be far behind if it ever cools a bit.

sometimes in the Indian summer of September and October I have found the crappie acting more like white bass or hybrids.They just stay in a neutral mood for much of the day...then go on feeding binges for periods.Sometimes schooled up like the whites and pushing the shad fry up onto points,grass,or just to the top over a hump or something.The fishing can be fast and furious for a however long it last.But it can stop as quick as it started.Sometimes its right at dark thirty. Its mostly a cast to them proposition and throw something that sorta matches the hatch so to speak.two cents worth.
