I was wanting to get one of those life jackets that automaticly inflates when it gets wet. What are some good ones to look at and which ones do I need to stay away from?

Amazon.com: Onyx A/M-24 Deluxe Auto/Manual Inflatable Life Jacket, Carbon/Yellow: Sports & Outdoors i use this one and I'm a big guy. I have float tested it once. Worked good. Amazon has many to choose from. Good place to compare prices, including shipping and taxes.

I have 2 that the wife and I have used for several years now and we like them a lot. The ones we have don't inflate when they get wet but they inflate when submerged. I have a few friends who got the other kind and they inflated in their boat compartments when they had gotten damp. Mine have never done that. The kind we have are a little more expensive but to me it is worth it. I got them on sale at BPS in the spring when they put the fishing and boating stuff on sale.

Hey 2@low8, I wonder if they make a life jacket big enough for Sharon Jean? She's not fat just a big boned ol girl.
Thanks everyone for the input. I will check out all the suggestions.

Be sure and check your boating regulations. In some states having an inflatable vest does not qualify as life preserver unless you are wearing it. (The obvious question being, "if you aren't going to wear it why waste money on an inflatable?" ) Hate to say it, but one of my buddies' wife bought him one out of concern for his safety (age issue) and first thing he does when he gets in the boat is hang it over the seat.![]()
